FINALLY . . . the last two days of my Walt Disney World trip report!!!
Day 8 - March 6 - Magic Kingdom / Hollywood Studios / Magic KingdomWhen we planned our trip we left Friday open and hadn’t really made any real plans. Since Melinda had missed out on the going to the Magic Kingdom the day before and was feeling better we decided to start there. Mom wanted to stay back at the hotel and relax a bit and do some laundry. So we had breakfast in the hotel room then Melinda and I headed to the Magic Kingdom. Like the previous day, we took the ferry across.
We of course took a few photos of Main Street, the Partner Statue, and Cinderella Castle. After that we went in search of one of the things Melinda wanted to do -- get a Dole Whip. I had gotten one in Disneyland the year before and gave her a bite of it and she just fell in love. She was really looking forward to it. We found the place that sells them and they weren’t open. Bummer.

So we decided to head over to Toontown to see Tinker Bell and her friends. On the way there we stopped to get fastpasses for Pooh. Toontown wasn’t open quite yet, but there were lots of people waiting. It was a mad dash then to Toontown Hall of Fame. Even getting there as it opened we still had to wait 30 minutes or so to get to meet the Iridessa, Tinker Bell, and Silvermist. I love the theming of Pixie Hollow. It is so much fun. Each of the fairies were a lot of fun, though Silvermist is probably my favorite. By the time we were done the wait time for Pixie Hollow was well over an hour. Crazy!

We then headed back to Fantasyland to use our fastpasses for Pooh. I love that ride! Then we went on Snow White since there wasn’t too long of a wait and Melinda didn’t believe me that it only went warp 1 as opposed to Disneyland’s warp 5! LOL
After our not so scary adventure on Snow White we headed to the Haunted Mansion because there is nothing better than hanging out with 999 ghosts! By this time Aloha Isle was open and Melinda was able to get her much anticipated Dole Whip. She even let me have a few small bites.
Yummy . . . pineappley goodness!!!
When we were done with that we went back to the car to park hop over to Hollywood Studios. There were a few things we had seen in a couple of stores there that we wanted. We first went to the Tower of Terror gift shop. Just being near that right gives me the heebiedabajeebies. We got a few items and left. We stopped a few more shops then headed back to the hotel.
The Tower or Terror . . . I'm starting to get the beebiedabajeebies!!!
Mom was in the room when we got back and we hung out there for a bit before going to the food court for lunch. After that we took a rest in the room and started to pack up some of our stuff since we had a super early flight the next morning.
We decided that we wanted to go back to the Magic Kingdom with Mom. As we were going into the park we got some photos taken in front of the Main Street train station. We asked the Photopass photographer to do a couple of us waving goodbye since it was our last day.
Goodbye Walt Disney World! So sad. :(
After that we went to Fantasyland to ride a few rides. The first one we went on was Dumbo. Melinda didn’t want to ride it, so she got to take photos of Mom and I. I love Dumbo. I just wish it was longer than 90 seconds. It just seems so short.
Last flight on Dumbo!

After that we went to ride Peter Pan’s flight once more. Next was one last ride on It’s a Small World. Mom wanted to go for a ride on the steamboat, but Melinda didn’t want to go. So again Mom and I went and she waited for us. The ride around Rivers of America at Walt Disney World wasn’t as interesting as at Disneyland. Though I did get some good photos of Haunted Mansion.

By this point it was getting late and we didn’t want to get stuck in the crowds for Wishes so we headed back to Pop. Plus we still had to finish packing, which is my least favorite chore. But on the way back to Pop we made a detour to World of Disney at Downtown Disney to get last minute souvenirs.
By the time we had spent all of our money on souvenirs we were getting hungry and tired. Since we still had two table service meals on dining plan we decided to do an in room pizza order. I was disappointed that you only have like 5 pizzas to choose from and that you can’t create a customized one. We wanted a ham pizza, but instead opted for a just cheese pizza. While we were waiting for that, Melinda and I went to the food court to use the rest of our snack credits and the last Quick Service credit. By the time we got back the pizza was delivered. It is sort of a vacation tradition to get pizza delivered while packing since it’s easy to eat while doing other things.
The packing took a lot longer than we had thought. We were supposed to get up by 4:00 AM to leave since our flight was at 6:30 AM. I don’t think we went to bed until almost midnight.
It was a crazy fun day! Melinda and I loved hopping parks! That was so much fun.
Day 9 - March 7 - Going homeOur flight was scheduled to leave at 6:30 AM. We got at 4:00 AM, loaded the car and checked out. We were all pretty tired from having not gotten much sleep. This was going to be our first time flying on Delta. When we got to the airport to return the rental car, I pointed out to the attendant the expired tags on the plate. Mom and I had noticed them a day or two before. The guy’s face when he realized that they were expired was hilarious! After that we headed into the terminal, checked our bags and made it through security. By the time we got to the gate they were already pre-boarding people.
On our previous flights with Northwest disabled people are allowed to pre-board, but not on Delta. We had to stand there and wait until our row was called. They had already taken my Mom’s wheelchair to be loaded onto the plane. Since Mom isn’t supposed to lift more than 10 pounds because of her shoulder, I had to her carry on bag. The lady scanning the boarding passes seen that I had two and started yelling at me before I could explain. She was really rude about it. I was tired and just wanted to get on the plane to sleep. We had to make a connection in Atlanta. For some reason they had us on one of the planes that are normally used for international flights. It was crazy! Melinda and I played with the monitors on the headrests for a bit before we were just knocked out. I have no memory of that flight at all. Melinda and I slept the entire way from Orlando to Atlanta.
When we landed in Atlanta we had 50 minutes to get to our connecting flight. When we got off the plane we noticed that they had not unloaded the wheelchair. There was a group of us waiting for strollers and wheelchair to be taken off the plane. We waited. And waited. Still no wheelchair. They kept trying to bring us an airport one, not understanding that we were waiting for our personal one. FINALLY they brought the strollers and the wheelchair off the plane. Of course there was almost no time to get to our connecting flight. Melinda had taken off to get to the gate while Mom and I waited for the wheelchair. We were lucky enough to have a skycap push the wheelchair because I had no idea where we were going. I was so lost. When we got to the gate Melinda wasn’t there. Mom boarded while I waited for Melinda. They were getting ready to close the door. I started to cry. I tried calling Melinda’s cell phone, but I didn’t think she would have it on. After I tried calling her she finally showed up. She seen that I was crying and got worried, but I was just worried that she was going to get left behind.
We boarded the plane and found our seats. It didn’t take long to push back from the gate, but we had to wait in line to take off. I think we were #22 to take off. There was some kind of delay, but I can’t remember what it was. I sort of fell asleep again. LOL When we did finally get into the air Melinda and I listened to music while sleeping. Halfway through the flight the battery on the MP3 player died and I had forgotten to recharge the other one. So we ended up getting the laptop out and watching an episode of Enterprise. There wasn’t a lot of turbulence, which was really nice since the flight to Florida was really rough. We were very happy to land in Detroit.
Again in Detroit we had to wait for the wheelchair to be taken off the plane. We were able to get a hold of Pat who was waiting down by baggage claim for us. It took FOR-EVER to get the baggage off the plane. It seriously took an hour or so to get all of our bags. Once we finally got all of our bags we loaded Pat’s car and headed to Flint where Chris was going to meet us to take us the rest of the way home. We stopped for lunch at Sonic in Flint before going home. I slept most of the way home.
It was a long day, but it was awesome to finally be home. We unloaded the car, brought the suitcases in, pet the cats and then took naps! It was an INCREDIBLE trip. We didn’t follow our plan exactly and we didn’t do everything we wanted. We went at a bit slower pace, but it was so much fun. I loved being able to take Mom and meet up with Aunt Joyce. Those are memories I will never forget.
